The character of Al Barari projects
Al Barari is defined by its gardens. Plot builds and renovations here tend to be large, garden-facing houses where the boundary between inside and outside is deliberately blurred. That raises the importance of landscape design, irrigation, outdoor rooms, shading and the detailing of large openings.
What to plan for
- Landscape as a package. Landscape should be designed and budgeted from the start, not left as a provisional sum for the end.
- Protecting what's there. Mature planting and neighbouring gardens need protecting during construction. That affects access, logistics and cost.
- Indoor-outdoor detailing. Level thresholds, large sliding glass and covered terraces are beautiful and unforgiving if detailed poorly. Water and heat get in through the junctions.
