Owers House overlooks the Fal estuary and was completed in late 2014. It is arranged as two wings: a bedroom and study wing running along the contours, and a living wing running against the slope, linked by a glazed bridge. The living room projects out over the falling site in a cantilever to take in the view. The house won a RIBA South West Award in 2016 and was covered by The Times.
Why it matters for a Dubai villa
Cantilevers, long spans and frameless glazing are common on contemporary villas in District One, Emirates Hills and Dubai Hills. Getting them right depends on structural, façade and finishing trades working to tight tolerances together.
